Tibetan medical calendar: Days to avoid surgery for particular areas of the body

The following calendar is based on the Tibetan medical and astrological system, an ancient and highly refined science, which has evolved over thousands of years. According to the Tibetan system, energy concentrates in various parts of the body at certain points of the lunar cycle. As surgery to an area of the body that is at its weakest point in the cycle could be very harmful, it is advised to avoid surgery or medical procedures on certain parts of the body on the days which correspond to that area, as detailed in the calendar below. Tibetan medical tradition advises avoiding surgery to any area of the body on the full moon and new moon (the 15th and 30th of the Tibetan calendar).

Please refer to Chanteloube's Tibetan calendar to determine the Tibetan day in relation to the Western calendar.
