Your donation will help to preserve the spiritual traditions of Tibet and sustain a people who, for centuries, have found deep meaning and happiness in devoting themselves to Buddhist practice. Sponsorship of Tibetan refugees offers deprived families, orphaned children, monks and nuns, not only better health and living conditions but also protection from further displacement and loss of their customs. Your pledge to Padmakara will help Songtsen continue to preserve manuscripts and texts that are often the only remaining copy of a sacred Tibetan text. By supporting the input, reprinting, or translation of these texts, you are helping to safeguard the knowledge and wisdom of Tibetan Buddhism and to make it accessible to future generations. Your contribution to KRFwill help construct water reservoirs that save poor villagers hours of time and effort every day, or primary and secondary schools in regions that would otherwise have little or no educational resources. Your donations will provide tools, training, and skills to Tibetans, inside and outside of Tibet and allow them to become self-sufficient. You will contribute to the sheltering of hundreds of dedicated monks and nuns, as well as newly arrived Tibetan refugees, through the construction of traditional monastic institutes and community housing.
Priority areas include:
- Preserving the cultural and spiritual heritage of the Tibetans and making it available to those who are interested.
- Preserving, studying, translating and publishing the major texts of classical and contemporary Tibetan literature. Bringing knowledge of the living tradition of Tibetan Buddhism to a Western public.
- Providing regular support for monastery-schools and children’s communities in India, Bhutan, Tibet and Nepal.
- Working to re-establish and sustain the social and cultural life of Tibetan communities that are not supported by government or international aid, both in exile and in Tibet.
Songtsen relies on the generosity of individuals, corporations and foundations around the globe. Through such support, it has successfully completed and continues to manage a number of projects. But there is so much to do.
